Your Conversations
Stay Yours

Unlike cloud-based translation services, Live Translator processes everything locally in your browser. No audio recordings, no conversation logs, no data collection — period.

You bring your own Soniox API key, stored only in your browser's local storage. We never see it, never route it through our servers, and never have access to your translation data. Billing is pay-as-you-go directly with Soniox based on your usage.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Live Translator.

Live Translator captures audio from your meeting or video, sends it directly to Soniox for speech recognition and translation, then renders translated captions on your screen in real-time. The extension runs locally in your browser, and no conversation data is routed through third-party app servers.

The extension is completely free to install and use. You only pay Soniox for the API usage you consume (pay-as-you-go). There is no monthly subscription from Live Translator, and you can control your usage directly from your Soniox account.

Yes. Live Translator currently uses Soniox API for translation. After installing the extension, add your Soniox API key once in settings and you're ready to translate in meetings and videos.

No. Translations are displayed only on your screen as a local overlay. Other participants in the meeting cannot see your translations. The extension works silently in the background, visible only to you.

Currently, Live Translator is available as a Chrome extension and works on all Chromium-based browsers including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Arc. Support for Firefox is planned for a future release.

Yes! After your meeting ends, you can download the full translated transcript as a text file. This includes both the original speech and translations, timestamped for easy reference. Great for meeting notes and follow-ups.

Absolutely. Your Soniox API key is stored only in your browser's local storage and is never sent to our servers. The extension communicates directly between your browser and Soniox, so you keep full control of key usage and revocation.
