Everything You Need to Communicate Globally

Powerful real-time translation that works where you already meet, learn, and collaborate.

New in v0.14.3: Teams Interpreter + Narrate My Voice fixes, plus AI meeting summary and task breakdown downloads.

Real-Time Translation

See translations appear instantly as people speak during your meetings. No delay, no interruptions — just seamless multilingual communication.

60+ Languages

From English and Spanish to Japanese and Arabic — support for over 60 languages and regional dialects covering most of the world's spoken languages.

Multi-Platform Support

Works seamlessly with Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, YouTube, and Domestika. One extension for meetings, videos, and learning content.

Privacy First

Everything runs locally on your browser. No data leaves your device, no third-party servers involved. Your conversations stay completely private.

Download Transcripts & SRT

Save transcripts as TXT, JSON, or SRT subtitle files. Choose original or translated text — perfect for meeting notes, video editing, or archiving.

Bring Your Own Key

Connect your Soniox API key and pay only for actual usage. No subscriptions, no hidden fees — complete control over your translation cost.

Narration Mode (TTS)

Listen to translated text in a natural voice while your meeting continues. "Narrate their voice" reads others' speech aloud; "Narrate my voice" speaks your words into the meeting in their language.

Inline AI Assistant

Hover any translation line and open AI actions instantly: Explain to understand intent, or Generate answer to reply faster during live conversations.

How It Works

Start Translating in Three Steps

No accounts, no configuration headaches. Get up and running in under a minute.

1

Install the Extension

Install Live Translator from Chrome Web Store.

2

Add Your API Key(s)

Add your Soniox API key to start translation. If you want Narration mode, add your OpenAI API key too.

3

Start Translating

Open a supported platform (Google Meet, Zoom, Teams, WhatsApp Web, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Douyin, Dailymotion, Vimeo, or Udemy). A small bird icon appears at the bottom-right corner - click it to open Live Translator and start translating.

Narration Guide

How to Use Narration (TTS)

Turn translated captions into spoken audio in just a few clicks.

Narrate Their Voice

Hear translations from other participants read aloud to you.

  1. Open Live Translator during a meeting and start translation.
  2. Click the Narration button and choose a voice from one unified list (OpenAI • ... or Google • ...).
  3. Use the voice search box to quickly find voices by provider, language, or name.
  4. If you select an OpenAI voice, enter your OpenAI API key (get key here). Google voices do not need an API key.
  5. Adjust voice speed and voice volume, then use Test to preview your selected voice.
  6. Click Start to enable narration.
  7. Narration automatically skips your own voice — only other participants' speech is read aloud.

Narrate My Voice

Speak your words into the meeting in the other person's language.

  1. Configure two-way translation: set My language and Their language.
  2. Open Narration settings, choose an OpenAI or Google voice, then toggle on Narrate my voice.
  3. If using OpenAI voice, make sure your OpenAI API key is set. Google voices work without OpenAI key.
  4. Click Start — your speech is translated and spoken into the meeting in real time.
  5. Voice speed and voice volume settings apply to both OpenAI and Google voices.
  6. Your original voice is muted while translated audio plays, avoiding overlap.
  7. Both "Narrate their voice" and "Narrate my voice" can be used at the same time.

Your Conversations
Stay Yours

Unlike cloud-based translation services, Live Translator processes everything locally in your browser. No audio recordings, no conversation logs, no data collection — period.

You bring your own Soniox API key, stored only in your browser's local storage. We never see it, never route it through our servers, and never have access to your translation data. Billing is pay-as-you-go directly with Soniox based on your usage.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Live Translator.

Live Translator captures audio from your meeting or video, sends it directly to Soniox for speech recognition and translation, then renders translated captions on your screen in real-time. The extension runs locally in your browser, and no conversation data is routed through third-party app servers.

The Free plan gives you full real-time translation with 60+ languages — no charge. You only pay Soniox for API usage (pay-as-you-go). If you want advanced features, choose Pro Monthly ($5.99/month) or Pro Yearly ($59/year) for narration, two-way interpreter mode, AI assistant, and SRT export.

Yes. Live Translator currently uses Soniox API for translation. After installing the extension, add your Soniox API key once in settings and you're ready to translate in meetings and videos.

Open Live Translator, add your OpenAI API key in settings. After that, click the Narration button, choose a voice and press Start to hear translated text as speech. You can use Test to preview the selected voice before starting.

WhatsApp Web calling is currently tied to the Beta program. If call buttons are missing, enable Beta first:

  1. Open WhatsApp Web.
  2. Click BETA in the left sidebar.
  3. Choose Join Beta Program.
  4. Refresh the page and check for voice/video call buttons.

No. Translations are displayed only on your screen as a local overlay. Other participants in the meeting cannot see your translations. The extension works silently in the background, visible only to you.

Currently, Live Translator is available as a Chrome extension and works on all Chromium-based browsers including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Arc. Support for Firefox is planned for a future release.

Yes! Download transcripts as TXT or JSON for free. Pro users can also export as SRT subtitle files with original or translated text — perfect for video editing, media players, or archiving. All formats include timestamps for easy reference.

Absolutely. Your Soniox API key is stored only in your browser's local storage and is never sent to our servers. The extension communicates directly between your browser and Soniox, so you keep full control of key usage and revocation.
